»Jamie Pietig discusses the importance of water and feed intake on growth in the finishing stage. Learn about feeder adjustment and what to consider when walking through a finishing barn.«

To begin with pig rearing is a proper investment for pork production which has taken the centre stage in the market due to being lean and less fibrous compared to other meat sources.

When rearing pigs, make sure there is enough feed available for them because low feed supply lead to reduction the growth and cause health problems as well. The feed quality given to pigs should be good.

Swine management

Provide water to make gruel feed for pigs and make sure feed is available and well formulated when using wet dry feeder. Continue by adjusting feeder properly to produce efficient pork and to avoid feed wastage.

For efficiency, feed must be coarse with fine microns of 600-800. Water availability is key for proper growth and health of the pigs. Make sure there is enough quality airflow through proper ventilation at all times in order to maintain proper temperatures for the pigs.

Finally, Provide individual pig care to ensure every pig is doing well in every pen.
