Cattle production is a lucrative agriculture venture. The quality and quantity of its products depend on technology used in management.

As mastitis reduces milk production, milk quality and animal well being. Milking is done to remove milk quickly without damaging teats or introducing mastitis causing bacteria in the teats which improves on the disease management on the farm.

Mastitis prevention

To prevent mastitis, minimize cow stress, keep the udder clean and cows should be applied to clean dry teats.

Similarly always wear gloves during milking to minimize disease spread and also spray teats using teat spray. Mastitis causing bacteria enter udder through damaged open teat ends hence there is need to manage the conditions of teat ends.

Furthermore prevent over milking of animal and maintain milking shed through contacting expert for advise and also use monitoring ways to get an over view of mastitis on the farm.

Finally to monitor mastitis, bulk milk, test the herd, talk to vet and use clinical cases as well.
