»Fresh and Fruity on why farmers in Kenya should take up Apple farming. «

Apple farming is a lucrative venture in agriculture. The demand for fruits are increasingly being demanded by consumers.

To plant apples, dig a hole 2-3 feet in depth and width. Mix the soil with organic manure before planting the seedlings. Water the seedling after planting. Once the tree has grown water it once per week. Do not plant crops such as maize, sorghum as they will compete with the apple tree. Tomatoes is also not recommended as they climb the apple tree. Irrigating the farms during the dry seasons helps to improve productivity.

Benefits of apples

Produce can be sold to the local and export market encouraging farmers and consumers to consume locally produced apple fruits. It also helps to eradicate poverty.
