»Repeating the same work makes us mentally exhausted. Similarly, repeating the growing of same variety of crops exhausts the soil. It loses the balance between its nutrients. What do we do then to avoid the soil from running out of nutrients? The techniques of cropping patterns come to our rescue. Watch this video to know more about the concept of Cropping patterns in detail.«

The quality and quantity of crops is determined by the type and method of cropping systems and patterns used in the production.

As planing in crop cultivation involve the plants a farmer make on his land, a farmer looks at the short span of time of the plant, quality of seed and resistance to diseases crops are sown in a definitive pattern.

Cropping pattern

First, in mixed cropping pattern, a farmer requires two different crop varieties as two types of crops are planted in same piece of land and crops chosen should not interfere with one another.

Similarly, for intercropping pattern, crops are planted in alternate rows in same field and only one type of crop is grown at a time and once crop is harvested, another type of crop is planted in the same field and the process is repeated several times.

Furthermore, when plants are growing, irrigate the land to retain moisture in soil and add sufficient nutrients to the soil for plant growth. Finally, protect crops against unwanted elements.
