Being highly nutritious crops rich in nutrients, spinach production, quality and quantity is determined by the level of technology used. As a short period crop of 6-8 weeks to be harvested, leafy crops require constant source of nitrogen hence add chicken manure to soils of pH 6.0 for planting spinach. These also need high organic matter in soils and also earate the bed using forked hoe.

Crop management

First, plant spinach before putting fetilizers and plant at 30cm apart, add volcanic rock dust to plants and water the garden after planting and fertilizer application. Similarly, pull off affected leaves to control rust and also spray sea weed once a month as pests like birds and slugs affect the plants.
