Farming guidelines
Select sandy loam well drained fertile soils, adjust soil to a neutral pH and avoid planting during rain as this cause damage to plants. Furthermore, transplant seedling 6-8 weeks after germination in holes 0f 50cm X 50cm X 50cm and apply organic waste, thereafter, plant 2-3 seedlings per pit, thin when plants flower and hoe regularly. Also intercrop papaya fields in second year, cover plants and fruits during frost. Always irrigate crops in dry seasons by drip method and control pests and diseases. Lastly, timely harvest carefully when latex turns watery to avoid post harvest losses.
