Additionally, chicken get heated up easily during sunny days and therefore need enough water, it is also advisable to mix chickens with rabbits for extra income. However chickens lay less eggs as they age and don‘t mix chickens with ducks since ducks make water dirty.

Managerial practices

Ensure to cover the chicken run to avoid predator attacks and also make sure that the wires go deep in ground so that predators can not dig and enter the chicken run.

Always provide bigger chicken run space to prevent from pecking each other and establish enough laying boxes for laying eggs.

Ensure to put dirt and hay in the chicken run areas so that chickens can take dust bath to get rid of lice and mites.

Additionally, kill rodents within the run without using poison to avoid birds from eating them.

Furthermore, feed chicken on grass clippings and provide water source under shade and raised from ground.

Also install elevated spaces in chicken run to accommodate more chickens and build low covered spaces for extra shade during sun and rainy days.

Lastly use recommended earth to control eye problems and confine a rooster with female birds to facilitate production of fertile eggs.
