Fertilizers may be granular, crystalline or liquid. Granular fertilizers can be applied directly to the soil and lightly covered to prevent loss by evaporation.
Water the plants after applying fertilizers if the growing medium is not moist. This will ensure that the nutrients are absorbed by the plant roots. Granular fertilizers can be applied in a circular way, row, semicircular or band way. The circular method is recommended for flat land because the nutrients are evenly distributed around the plant. The semicircular method is recommended for sloping areas. Place the fertilizers on the highest side of the slope to reduce fertilizer loss.
Other Ways
Liquid and crystalline fertilizers can be applied to the leaves in a solution using a watering can or a spray can.
Use liquid fertilizers at recommended rates to prevent burning of leaves. Always observe your plants and provide nutrients like Potassium for general health and plant hardiness, nitrogen for growth of leaves and greenness of the plant and phosphorous for strong roots and flower development.
