Goats farming is about production and multiplication of goats hence its important to minimize mortalities.

Loosing one two or three goats in a flock of of 1000 goats is normal, but it indicates that something wrong is happening to the farm hence when you loose a goat, it is important to find out the cause of the mortality. When rearing goats, it is important to provide them with a large exercising area and a shelter but the shelter should be well aerated.

Identifying sick animals

Do regular checkups of the animals. When you know how a healthy goat looks like, it is easy to identify a sick one. Sick animals are not active, will have dull eyes, could have tears coming from the eyes, sweaty nose rough skin coat and nasal discharge.

Management practices

Observe the animals carefully every morning and evening. Isolate and quarantine animals suspected to be sick. This is essential for easy follow up.

Ensure that your animals are vaccinated for five to six diseases every year, ensure that they are sprayed every week and deworm them at least once every three month for mature goats and once every week for the kids because they are most susceptible.
