»In this video, we demonstrate how to make and use a fermented fertiliser known as fish hydrolysate. This fertiliser is rich in microbes that promotes soil fertility and plant health and can boost crop yields. It is easy to make from widely available low-cost ingredients.«

»How to make a fish hydrolysatefermented organic fertiliser«

The fish organic fertilizer can be made from all types of fish as it improves on crop quality and yields thus providing vital soil nutrients, regenerates soil with microbes and minerals.
Additionally, fertilizer preparation takes 1 hour, fermentation takes 4-6 weeks this allows multiplication of microbes. For proper fertilizer efficiency, apply 5 times per season for example during land preparation, seed preparation, first seeding, during flowering and during fruiting stage

Equipments and Ingredients

Equipments include, 20 litre bucket, knife, chopping board, stick, net and string. On the other hand the required ingredients to make 5 litre fertilizer include, 1kg fish waste, 1 litre sugarcane molasses, water 3 litres.
Steps involved
Start by chopping fish into tiny pieces, this is followed by mixing measured fish, molasses, and water into the 20 litre bucket and stir with stick. Thereafter, cover bucket with net and tie the net on bucket with string and allow fermentation for 2-4 weeks.

Storage and Application

After fertilizer application, store the remaining in empty bottles and this should be used within a year. Furthermore, apply the fertilizer 5 times per season this can be done either by using a grass broom, backpack sprayer or by pouring around plant stems. Lastly, ensure constant filed monitoring and check for fertilizer efficiency by setting up a trial plot.
