The continued decrease in soil fertility has made the use of fertilizers almost inevitable in farming.

Biofertilizers limit yield loss by using nutrition i.e. providing plants with the required nutrients for use by the plants to grow and give a good yield. These limit physiological stresses on the plants and also limit the pest and disease pressures.

Making biofertilizers

To make biofertilizers, you will need manure, molasses, water, and hay. The manure provides an inoculation source for microorganisms.
Hay would be the source of proteins, vitamins, lipids, and mineral acids while molasses will be the energy source.
You also need ash and rock dust to act as a source of minerals both micro and macro minerals.
The ingredients are put in a container containing 30 liters of water and mixed.
The container should be designed in such a way that air can leave the mixture but air can’t enter into the mixture.
After, the biofertilizer will have a sweet smell and will be ready for use. The fertilizer is diluted and then used by spraying it as a foliar fertilizer on the crops.
