Seed management
First, seeds are planted right at surface and grow quickly once germinate and carrots are planted in summer and vernalisation takes place next summer. Harvest carrots, cut off heads leaving foliage intact, preserve it in fridge over winter to plant it for seeds in the following spring for new plants.
Similarly, carrot flowers are known as compound umble as they have many other flowers and farmer should ensure proper pollination of flowers by planting near each other. Flowers form a bird nest form and turn brown in weeks which are then cut off and dried indoors and farmer should avoid rains.
Harvest seeds daily until you finish and collect them of the same dryness, stage and development and once brownish and crispy, dry seed heads intact further indoors for a month. Agitate the seed heads to remove seeds and sieve them to clean.
Finally, store tseeds in jars or plastic containers in cool dry dark location.
