Grapes are profitable, medicinal, highly demanded, requires less capital and labour. Usually the plant produces fruits for many years.
Grapes are eaten raw, highly beneficial as the crops is used to produce many products and is a rich source source of minerals like calcium, phosphorus, iron and vitamins. Additionally, high rainfall does not allow proper growth and production of grapes.

Growing conditions

Normally grapes grow best in temperate and tropical climate and heavy rain fall does not allow them to grow properly. Also grapes require well drained loam to sandy loamy soils with organic matter and 6.5-8.5 soil pH. Additionally, for commercial business production grapes require soil with good water holding capacity and it is highly advisable to plant grapes in rainy seasons.

Grape planting

Start by digging pits of 3 X 3 metres, half fill pits with farm yard manure, fill up with top soil and plant in the afternoon. After planting immediately water plants and ensure to properly space plants depending on variety. Also to attain a high yield balance usage of organic and inorganic fertilizers. Additionally, apply recommended fertilizers correctly to new plants and for high production irrigate plants adequately depending on the environmental conditions, lastly, control weeds and prune accordingly when vines are still dormant.
