Green leaves are used during the process because they quickly rot which fastens the process.

Procedure

First select an area of 2 metre square and dig a pit of 30 cm while pilling top soil on one side.

Then spread straw over the dug pit and add dry or green leaves of 15 cm thick.

After that add animal manure of 10 cm thick, top soil and then another layer of green leaves 15cm thick.

Furthermore sprinkle ash on top, add water such that the ash mixes with leaves and soil. Repeat the process until the pile reaches height of 2 metres.

Additionally, cover the entire area with dry leaves and spread some soil around to prevent the leaves from blowing away.

It is also very important to fix a stick in the centre of the pile to help check of the temperature of the compost to easily determine the rate of compost decomposition.

Lastly, rebuild compost pile tree times each every after 3 weeks by simply digging a new pit beside the pile and transfer the materials with the upper layer first to fasten decomposition rate.
