Seed selection is a vital step in passion fruit farming. You have to choose which type of seed you‘ re going to grow and that depends on the environmental factors such as weather conditions and soil fertility.
Seed bed management
You need liquid NPK fertilizer, a pesticide that can kill the chopping insects that chop off the germinating passion fruit and a fungicide that prevents passion blight from attacking the plants.
If the soil is infertile you need to apply a quick starter fertilizer such as Ammonium Phosphate. Get two soda cups and put in the pit hole and cover the fertilizer with thin layer of soil.
Plant the passion fruit and cover the plant. Covering the fertilizer prevents the burning of the plant which will lead to wilting of the passion fruit.
Post germination
When the plant is in the main garden, kill all the insects that are in the field, the crawling insects the suckling and the chopping insects.
In the flowering stage apply fertilizers with nitrobenzane and a balanced NPK combination which can boost and influence the multiplication of flowers.
Add a pesticide that is non- systematic to prevent killing of bees and suppressing of insects which help in pollination. Do not use a pesticide that injects the fruit and reduces the quality of the fruit.
Monitoring passion fruit
Monitor the passion fruits everyday and take care of the weeds. Passion fruits are affected by pests and diseases such as bacterial diseases, viral diseases, mites, aphids and leaf miners.
