Being a good source of protein, the quality and quantity of pigs produced on farm is determined by the type of technology used.

Being the breeding of animals in male‘s absence, in artificial insemination semen is collected from male to female by human technician. Traditional Artificial Insemination catheters are designed to deposit semen in the cervix.

Insemination handling

As PCAI catheters are designed to deposit semen in the uterine body, during the process spiral tip of catheter is inserted in vagina through vulva to parts of cervix and the small catheter is pushed through outer catheter past the part of cervix to the uterine body where semen is finally deposited.

Similarly, PCAI rod is inserted at 45 degree angle into vulva through vagina to lock into the cervix and during the process, boer should not be present and if there is need, lubricant can be used on outside catheter. Confirm that rod is in cervix by turning round clockwise and gently pull back without resistance.

Load inner catheters into outer catheter brand to determine how far to advance inner catheter. Cervix to relax for 20 seconds allows inner catheter to be placed and semen dose can be connected to the end of inner catheter and slight pressure is pressed in semen bottle.

Additionally, once dose is inseminated, bottle bag can be removed to allow some air to enter and finally once semen is deposited, catheters are removed simultaneously and examined for blood.
