»This animation explains how to transport grains using best practices for bulk transportation. It deals with how to prepare the truck beds and the use of tarps to minimize postharvest losses during transportation of the grain.«

Proper loading is important when transporting grain or seeds in a bulk. It needs to take precautions such as thorough cleaning of cargo track before day‘s operations.

Check and repair any holes on the floor of the track. Remove sharp objects or surfaces with sharp edges to prevent damage. Align the cargo bed with tarp to cover the load. These must be without holes. Place the flow of the cargo track, fold the front section of the tarp and secure the tarp to size of the cargo bag for easy off loading.

Proper loading

Load the grain uniformly without overloading hence leaving a space of 20 cm. Protect load from getting wet during rain, prevent from bird contamination of load and from falling off during transportation. Cover the top using tarp with no holes, bamboo and string to tightly tie it. Make regular checks of the cargo and rearrange the load if necessary.
