Concrete ponds are more durable than tarpaulin ponds and depending on the lifespan of the aquaculture project that you are starting, you can choose a concrete pond if you are to do aquaculture for a longer time.
Concrete ponds can help maintain a particular water temperature for a longer time compared to tarpaulin ponds especially when environmental temperatures become either extremely high or low.
The disadvantage of concrete ponds is that it has a high cost of establishment and with time, the pond develops cracks and the water begins to seep through necessitating maintenance yet the cost of maintenance is high.
The other disadvantage of a concrete pond is that there is no flexibility, in case a farmer needs to use the space for something else, they then have to demolish the fish pond.
Tarpaulin ponds
Tarpaulin ponds are flexible and in case a farmer is moving away from aquaculture, they can just wrap up their fish pond and use the space for something else.
Tarpaulin ponds are cheaper and more affordable compared to concrete ponds and are also cheaper to maintain.
