Red bananas are a unique variety of bananas different from the green bananas and are more nutritious than the green bananas.

To grow red bananas, choose a right location. Red bananas thrive in tropical and sub tropical climates. The soils should be slightly acidic, well drained and rich in organic matter.

Red banana cultivation

Soil preparation. Prepare the soil by adding organic matter like compost to improve its structure and nutrient content.
Dig holes that are about 2 to 3 feet apart and ensure they are at a good depth. Put the sucker into the hole ensuring its at the same depth as the hole, cover back with soil and water.
Always keep the plants hydrated by watering especially during the dry season.
Provide the plants with a balanced fertilizer of NPK to keep them healthy and florishig.
Protect the bananas from pests and diseases. Regularly inspect your bananas for signs of pests and diseases. Use natural predators and neem base sprays to control pests. For disease, practice field sanitation, remove infected leaves and use appropriate fungicides if necessary.
Red bananas are ready for harvest when the fruit is fully red and feels soft when touched.
