Local hens lay on average between 15 to 20 eggs per laying cycle after which they go broody and hatch chicks after 21 days. Kuroilers on the other hand lay more eggs but these do not sit on and hatch their eggs hence necessitating for a means of hatching their eggs.
Hatching kuroiler eggs
Kuroiler eggs can be taken to and be incubated in an an incubator or given to local hens to have them hatch the kuroiler eggs. The chicks can as well be left to be taken care of by the local hens or they can be picked from the local hen after hatching and be raised in a brooder.
Immediately after hatching, provide the chicks with water containing glucose to give them energy and as well boost their immunity.
If picked from the local hen after incubation, the chicks need to be brood separately for about 2 to 3 weeks.
After 3 weeks of brooding, shift the chicks from the brooder to a growers’ room.
Provide the chicks with greens as early as possible.
