Watermelon management
As watermelon require great drainage of soil and enough space, for containers, 10 gallons is the minimum per plant and plant at 3-4 feet/ 90-120cm in the garden. Watermelon can be diretly seeded in warmer climates of 18 degrees centigrade and lant 2-3 seeds per hill and thinafter sprouting.
Similarly, mulch after planting, water thoruoughly and put holes in bio degradable containers and fill themwith potting mix. Plant 2-3 seeds per container at 1 inch deep and water them from bottom and the seeds sprout in a week depending on temperature and true leaves appear a week after germination.
Give full light through windows to the seedlings and water them and harden off for a week and transplant on a calm, cool overcast day. Fill a 10 gallon container with potting mix and soak it from bottom for 2 hours to eliminate transplantshock and place seedlings in holes and mulch.
Furthermore, for beds, make holes 4*5 times larger than cups and fill holes with potting mix and finally put in the seedlings and mulch then water after planting.
