Causes of odour
There are different causes of odour in poultry houses and among these include wet litter, this accelerates the rate of anaerobic decomposition thus odour. Furthermore, overloading of chicken manure and wet manure below layer chicken cages as well as spilled feeds also causes odour. Lastly, poor ventilation prevents free air circulation hence odour.
Prevention practices
Always, provide adequate litter material of 4-6 inches to absorb water. Also remove manure and caked litter from poultry houses. Furthermore, repair all licking drinkers, feeders as well as constructing poultry houses with good ventilation. Lastly timely remove and dispose off dead birds properly.
