Calves need proper management for growth and development therefore farmers should always adhere to the basic management practices for increased production.

Furthermore proper calf feeding helps in bringing them healthy and attainment of early sexual maturity thus more sustainable income generation and good quality animal products therefore it is always recommended for farmers to follow these managerial practices.

Management practices

Always deed calves on colostrum in the first days to increase calfs immunity against infectious diseases and then this should be followed by bottle feeding.

Secondly train calves to bucket feed for them to easily take fresh warm and whole milk at rate of one tenth of its body weight.

Additionally provide calves with calf starter at age of 15 days to 3 months to boost energy level as well as to enhance rumen development.

After 3 months provide calves with enough concentrates to increase the energy levels.

Lastly provide calves with mineral mixture and vitamin supplements for overall growth and development and also provide clean fresh drinking water to the animals.
