Being an important factor of crop growth and development, the level of irrigation is determined by the type of crop, nature of the season and the financial muscle of the farmer to buy the equipment.
For furrow irrigation system, irrigation pipes are used to put water in furrows and pipes of 6 inches in diameter and 20-30 ft long are used. In every 30 inches along irrigated pipe there is opening that lets water out into furrow.
System establishment
As furrow irrigation allows one direction flow of water in furrow, the system also allows tractor cultivation to control weeds. Use crops only that are deeprooted for good water intake and finally irrigate using furrow system after for every 10 days or 2 weeks depending on soil type.
