»Biogas is produced through the processing of various types of organic waste. It is a renewable and environmentally friendly fuel made from 100% local feedstocks that is suitable for a diversity of uses including road vehicle fuel and industrial uses«

Biogas is a type of fuel that is produced from the anaerobic decomposition of organic waste such as food scraps and animal waste.

When input feeds such as cow dung are collected, they are mixed with water and introduced into the biogas digester through the inlet funnel. The biogas digester is a simple compartment that is properly sealed. It ensures decomposition of organic materials in the absence of oxygen through a process called anaerobic decomposition which takes a period of month generating methane, carbon dioxide, and hydrogen sulphide as by products.

Treatment of gases

The by products produces are passed through a biogas scrubber where harmful hydrogen sulphide and carbon dioxide are treated. The end product is biomethan gas which can be used as source of energy to power a gas cooker, light bulb and even a modified generator.

Lastly, the liquid and solid residuals are drained and sued as organic manure or for plant nutrition.
