Predators are living organisms that hunt and eat fish from the pond thereby reducing the fish stock in the ponds.
It is important that you prevent predators from attacking your fish. The predators are of different kinds and include birds, alligators, frogs and toads. The fish that are worst affected by predators are small fishes like fingerlings and juveniles because these are small and its easy for the predators to pick on them.

Preventing predator attack

In the earthen pond, proper care should be taken in order to prevent predators from attacking your fish in the earthen pond. This is because earthen ponds are often located in farm areas where bushes surround the pond.
For concrete and tarpaulin pond, you can use a net to prevent predators from coming to pick the fishes. The nets come in different sizes.
You can as well build a shade over the pond and this shade prevents predators mostly birds from accessing the pond.
Ensure you put the net properly over the pond such that even if a predator comes to eat the fish, it can only remain on the net but can not enter inside the pond to eat the fish.
