Tuber crops are mostly affected by bacterial wilt and the farmer has to look for ways to prevent this. Brand chemicals such as Sustain are sprayed at the base of the crop so that it can infiltrate and protecting the rooting system.
The chemical Sustain is mixed with bacillus subtilis, which is a soil bacterium that bioactivates the soil. When the soil is so acidic it is not able to feed well, but once it is bioactivated it is able to start a fresh. Bioactivation allows the farmer to produce good quality tubers that are well protected from pathogens. To measure the regain chemical, the farmer should use its bottlecap which measures 25 ml and add two of them. The Trichoderma chemical is made up of Trichoderma microbes that prevent bacterial wilt which is caused by nematodes. Trichoderma is also measured with two of the 25ml bottle caps and the two chemicals are mixed together with water in the 20l knapsack sprayer and sprayed.
