Being highly nutritious rich in oil and proteins, cashew nut growing and production can be done using simple technology used by the farmers. Cashew nut are transplanted in 2-3 months to field from nursery depending on rainfall patterns and grafted seedlings take 2-3 years to yield and germinate seeds in pots for 3 months and transfer to main field. Dry seeds in shade after harvesting for 4-5 days before putting them in sacks.

Cashewnut management

Because harvesting is done from december to may with peak in april, a farmer should prune the tree for sunlight penetration and also plant at proper spacing of 10×10 metrs to allow each tree to produce 85kg of cashew nut seeds. Cashewnut is much affected by anthranose and other fungal diseases and spray the tree with fungicides and insecticides.
Similarly on better management, cashew nut tree take 40 years to be replaced and always apply organic matter to soil and put bee hives in plantation for pollination and finally collect the rubbish in field and decompose them for organic fertilizers.
