Starting and growing passion fruits is very easy as it requires simple technical steps and management practices.
Basically there are three main passion fruit varieties to mention; purple variety, yellow variety, sweet granadilla variety and giant granadilla variety. Steps to start
First obtain good quality seeds from certified dealers and transplant seedlings on a fertile well drained garden.
Additionally, space passion fruit seedlings at 3 metres by 3 metres to reduce plant nutrient competition, allow light penetration and reduce fungal disease spread.
Ensure to dig planting hole at depth of 3 feet to allow placement of the required plant nutrients at the plant base.
Management practices
Always constantly weed, irrigate field, mulch and prune the passion fruit field to ensure proper plant growth.
Furthermore at 3 metres plant height provide a net/ wire bed to allow the plant lay and produce fruits.
Also irrigate fruits and control diseases to prevent passion fruit plants from drying.
Every 7-14 days spray plants with insecticides and fungicides to effectively control pests and diseases.
