Seed rotation increases the risk of disease infestation such as bacteria wilt. Crops like, canola, Brassica napus which provide bio- fumigation to potatoes and reduces the number of seed nematodes.

Planting potatoes in a field is recommended only once in four years to reduce cases of infestation on clean seeds. Avoid capsicum, tomatoes as they will be host to the existing pathogens in the soil.

Potatoes can be rotated with crops like, black nightshade. Sweet potatoes, pumpkins, spider plant, spinach, are good and friendly crops that one can rotate with seed potatoes.

Tissue culture

A lot of time is consumed in production of tubers using the conventional method. Disseminating information on farmers helps them to see the need to know the varietal attribute of each variety.

Tissue culture produces about 2100 in one and a half years compared to conventional method that produces about 420 for about four and a half years.

Efficiency of tissue culture is very high and saves on time, space and labour cost .

Aeroponics

Aeroponics system is where plants grow in the air but mist the nutrient solution at the roots of the crops. Although aeroponics is an expensive system it keeps away pests and diseases from the crops.

Plant the apical rooted cuttings on the plug hole with a distance of about 20 cm allowing the roots to hang. Mist the roots for them to get the nutrients from the water with fertilizers.

Although aeroponics is an expensive system it keeps away pests and diseases from attacking the crops.

Organic farming

Organic farming is farming without the use of chemicals and inorganic fertilizers. Indigenous shrubs remove scents that is used as a pest repellant and treating wounds on humans.

Organic farming might be expensive. It takes about 20 tonnes of fertilizers for one acre.

It reduces the amount of infections and illness in the human body and its sweeter.
