Line planting of teff reduces input cost and increase yields however before planting clean, plough and level field.
Teff row planting has several benefits to mention saves seeds, better plant growth, easy to control weeds and insect pests, increases yields and saves money.
Materials
3-5 teff seeds per hectare, wooden sticks, ropes, 20cm stick, DAP and Urea at locally recommended rate per hectare. Tie ropes on sticks and hammer on ground at opposite side of the field with 20cm between lines. Make 3 – 4 furrows along lines, apply DAP and cover with light soil. Drill seeds along lines and cover with 2 -3 cm of soil as more soil will prevent seed germination. When the crop is at ankle height apply 50 kg of urea per hectare and similarly after 1 month.
