Clone forming bamboo can be propagated through a rhizome. To multiply the bamboo, dig up the rhizome of a bamboo that has formed a clone and either transplant it directly to the field or in transplanting bags.
Other propagation methods
The bamboo can also be propagated by stem cuttings, but in this case use cuttings got from bamboo trees that are at least 3 years. Make cuttings with at least 2 nodes at an angle of 45 degrees, remove the growing parts and plant. After 8 to 10 weeks, you begin to see growth and after that, you can transplant.
You can also propagate the bamboo using mother rhizomes.
Bamboo uses
Plant one or two stands of bamboo on sloppy land to control erosion. This is an Eco friendly method of controlling soil erosion. Bamboo does not require much maintenance hence once planted, it can grow on its own.
Bamboo can also be used in the wood industry, paper production, used as a building material and in making nurseries. Bamboo for industrial use needs to be at least 5 years old.
