Friesian cows produce lots of milk, they can produce 110 litres of milk per day. When breeding look for a bull and female cow that will give birth to a calf that produces more milk.

Feeds need to contain minerals and energy. Mix napier grass, bracharia, desmodium, lucern and dairy meal for better milk production.

Cow Management

Cows should not sleep in a a muddy watery area to prevent them from pests and diseases. Always keep the sleeping, eating and resting area clean.

Milk production helps to improve livelihoods. Cows also produce manure which can also used as a source of income.

Cows can be milked in the morning and afternoon daily.

Training institutes

Visit training institutes to learn how to handle livestock. Old farming techniques are not effective.

Training institute bring information to farmers. By updating the farmer on the changing technology, educating the youth on the importance of farming and look for projects that benefit farmers.

Training institute educate farmers on to improve their productions, best season of planting and value addition. Dams help to conserve water and can be used to water plants in dry seasons.
